Katrina A. Kershner practices in the areas of complex commercial and bankruptcy litigation. She is experienced in all phases of litigation in both state and federal court, and concentrates on a range of corporate and bankruptcy matters involving the negotiation and drafting of various types of business agreements or legal settlements.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Ms. Kershner served as a Judicial Law Clerk to Presiding Justice C.R. McRae of the Mississippi Supreme Court, where she drafted memoranda in a multitude of appellate cases addressing complex legal issues involving congressional redistricting, the UCC and secured transactions, and federal preemption.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL:
- Columbia University in the City of New York (B.A. Political Science, 1998) where she received the Ross Scholarship Prize for academic excellence and leadership.
- Southern Methodist University School of Law (J,D, 2002) where she was recognized for briefing the Texas Department of Banking and Finance, which led Texas Finance Code amendments requiring greater contract disclosure. She was also recognized for representing the Plaintiff in a successful appeal to the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Licensed to practice law in Texas.
- Admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.
